Every year I try to keep open source enthusiasts as well as software freeloaders who don’t want to fork out a ton of money just to get a few projects done with the personal computer and I do this by keeping up with the latest, greatest open source projects from around the world.
Being a huge supporter of open source software myself, I know how incredibly frustrating it can become trying to search for new, innovative and interesting projects only to come face to face with the same ten or so projects that were being back in 2007. I will provide you with a list that yes will consist of open source projects you’ve heard of before and are probably are using right this very moment, but it is my hope that I offer some suggestions of projects you have yet to familiarize yourself with yet.
I present my list in no particular order of importance. Feel free to explorer the various open source projects at your leisure and perhaps if I inadvertently snubbed one of your favorites you can share your suggestion in the comment section below for the rest of the community as well as myself to examine.
This is by no means a definitive list of software out there and I’ll will do my best to keep it updated, on this single page so I won’t have to create this same article next year.
